Screen Printing

What is Screen-printing?

Basically a stencil (or set of stencils) is created with your artwork, the stencil is placed on a fine mesh screen, and ink is squeezed through this onto the t-shirt. When printing a lighter color ink than the garment being printed on, a flash coat is required (basically an extra layer of white is printed under the design to stop the shirt color showing through). We have this extra layer built into our pricing when you order colored T Shirts.

Artwork

We need Vector graphics files. (Files created in Adobe Illustrator or Corel Draw). We can convert most high resolution graphics files (like jpg or bmp) for you if you don’t already have your artwork in vector. If the graphics file you send us is too detailed, or not of high enough quality, we can redraw your artwork. We will contact you with the cost of this service before proceeding if that is required. For basic Text designs, we can typeset those for you in any of our standard fonts at no additional charge. Click this link for a better understanding of vector art.

Proof Approval

We will send you a digital proof showing your exact art-work, and how it will be placed on the garment you have selected. You will typically receive this within 1 business day of placing your order and sending us your vector graphics file. Production does not begin until we have your final approval. (if we have to convert or redraw your design this will take a little longer.

Print Size

For best pricing, we size your design to fit on all shirts in the order. If you have a large range of sizes (ie junior ladies through to XL+ unisex) you may want to consider running two sizes of prints. (Different size prints will not combine to for quantity pricing) Please call us 800-888-6368 to have us help you place your order.

If you have a specific size you want your design – please include that in the customization notes, otherwise our expert team will use their best judgment regarding size of the print.

PMS color matching

We do have a range of about 30 basic colors in our standard inks. You can view our stock color selection here. If you require ink to be mixed to match a particular PMS color, there will be a charge of $10.00 per color to do this. Please note while we do get very close we cannot guarantee exact matches.

If you Design has more than 4 colors

The we recommend you look at full color garment print or embroidery (or dye sublimation on polyester tee shirts) For orders of 2000 or more we can get you pricing options for screen printing.

Money Saving Tips

• Quantity Breaks – the more you buy the lower your cost per shirt will be… It is a good idea to order extra with your first order so you don’t have to pay higher prices for smaller add on orders later. Also, if you are looking for a quantity that is close to our next quantity break – you may work out you will actually save more to buy more!

• Print on WHITE T Shirts. Then a flash/primer is not required and you print cost will be less. Our 1921, 5.5 oz 100% cotton and our 1562 6.1oz 100% cotton tees are our lowest priced tee shirts.

• Print just one color. In smaller quantities especially, extra colors add up fast. A popular option to add colors and still get your message across in a bold way is to embroider your full color logo on the left chest of your shirt – then pick one color to screen print your message / design on the back. For larger quantities, adding colors becomes less relatively less expensive.
